Acne Light Program

What is the Acne Light Program?

It is an acne treatment using concentrated light with a wavelength of 400 – 1200 nanometers, which covers acne treatment and prevents inflamed acne.

How does the Acne Light Program help treat acne?

There are several causes of acne, one of which is the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes (P. acne). The concentrated light helps reduce acne by stimulating porphyrins, turning them into toxins. These toxins then destroy the P. acne bacteria, which in turn reduces acne.

How often should it be done? And for how long?

It is recommended to perform the treatment 1-2 times per week. However, doing it every two weeks also provides satisfactory results. The duration of the treatment depends on the severity of the acne. Continuous treatment for at least 4 sessions is recommended, or as advised by a doctor.

Is the treatment painful? And is it necessary to use anesthesia to reduce the pain?

Anesthesia is not necessary as the treatment is not painful. It feels like a light flicking in some cases, but most patients only feel a slight warmth at the treated spots.

What are the side effects of the Acne Light Program?

Normally, the light used in the Acne Light Program specifically reacts with bacteria and does not cause any side effects. Some patients may experience slight swelling or redness, which usually subsides within an hour.

What are the results of the Acne Light Program?

The amount of acne decreases significantly after continuous treatment for about 3 months, with noticeable results especially in inflamed acne.
